If you’re dreaming of sunny coastlines, romantic villas, and vibrant cities, Spain is such a fabulous choice for your wedding! It’s one of the best places for a celebration in Europe, for good reason — so just how much does a destination wedding in Spain cost?
Three of Spain’s most sought-after wedding and adventure elopement destinations, Marbella, Barcelona, and Malaga, are easily accessible via flights from both the US and Canada. Each location also offers something special to couples seeking sunshine and romantic vibes.
However, costs can vary wildly, depending on your chosen region, venue, and guest numbers, but this guide to the average cost of a destination wedding in Spain will help you get started!
This beachfront resort city in Spain’s Costa del Sol region is ideal for couples seeking high-end luxury, yachting, and chic dining and nightlife options. Weddings here work well in May, June, and September, skipping the peak summer heat (and crowds) of July and August.
The cost of getting married in Spain’s Marbella region will vary, but starting venue rental costs are around €15,000 ($24,000 CAD/$17,500 USD) for weddings of 50 guests. Higher guest numbers and more luxurious venues will increase this.
As your destination wedding photographer in Spain, I’m fluent in Spanish and am always happy to assist with any translation or planning questions!

For cosmopolitan charm and some of Europe’s most unusual architecture, Barcelona is a dream for couples seeking the energy of a vibrant city!
While the summer crowds in Barcelona are well known, I suggest looking at spring (all the city’s gardens will be in beautiful bloom!) or later in autumn, as cooler weather means it’ll be more pleasant and the summer tourists will have left.
For your Barcelona, Spain destination wedding budget breakdown, know that venues downtown generally charge premiums for their location, so costs will start around €30,000 ($48,000 CAD/$35,000) for 100 guests. However, you can’t beat the levels of luxury and hospitality that you’ll find here!
Malaga, on the Andalusian coast, is known for its arts and culture, historic Moorish architecture, and sparkling beaches. It’s the ideal blend of coastal relaxation and culture, with so many historical sites and markets that you and your guests can enjoy together.
With low rainfall in spring and autumn, April and October can bring fewer crowds, but lovely weather for an outdoor ceremony.
Luxury wedding venue hire in Malaga starts around €20,000 ($32,000 CAD/$23,500 USD), but again, this will vary based on guest numbers and the style of wedding you’re envisioning.
So, the big question — just how much does a wedding in Spain cost for Americans and Canadians? Venue hire generally starts around €15,000 ($24,000 CAD/$17,500 USD) and goes up from there, with catering averaging around €150 ($237 CAD/$173 USD) per person. Then, you’ll need to consider your vendors, such as music, florals, and your entertainment.
Of course, popular tourist destinations in the high season summer months of July and August are likely to increase pricing, but if you can be flexible on dates, or are willing to consider a venue somewhat removed from tourist centers, you may find some savings.
Or, if you can reduce guest numbers, this can free up some budget for more wedding splurges, like a welcome catamaran cruise for your guests or to put towards a luxury villa rental. The choice is yours, so consider what means most to you and then prioritize your budget allocation accordingly.
